Why is 8 So Great?

“Awesome August” is the eighth month and we’re celebrating - for so many reasons!

We have just completed our 100th (100 - really!?!) podcast this week, and it’s thanks to our many practitioners who have shared their time and expertise with you.
As we celebrate that, we also recognize our theme of Awesome August makes this milestone especially meaningful. 

So, what’s up?
Let’s start with the number eight. As practitioners who are immersed in spirituality, this is a number that has wonderful significance across so many traditions.
Of course, you’ve heard that 7 has significance as a number for luck in some circles, and of completion in others, but you rarely hear about what 8 signifies, and we’re excited to share it! As far back as biblical and Hebrew times, the number eight (or the eighth letter in their alphabet), the number represented transcendence, a going-beyond that of the natural order. Plainly, there were already 7 days of the week, so 8 was seen as a level beyond nature and intellect. 

For Christians, 8 is also a number signifying rebirth, salvation and resurrection. It makes sense, as the 7th day for Jewish people is usually Saturday (Sabbath) and after Jesus, Christians saw the 8th day (Sunday) as a symbol of new life, and surely transcendence. 

In spiritual circles, and with those light workers, 8 is often considered the angel number. Similar to Hebrew belief, it reflects new beginnings. It also signifies a balance between the material and spiritual realms, ambition and compassion, and giving and receiving. So many of our practitioners work with people to help get to that balance in their lives to bring a deeper peace, and if you’re feeling out of sorts, this is your month to reset, transform, and transcend!

August itself carries a deep spiritual meaning, often associated with harvest, abundance, and transition. It's a time for letting go of what no longer serves you and preparing for new beginnings, while also acknowledging the peak of summer's energy and the sun's powerful influence. (And you just thought it was that sleepy time of year where summer is hanging on and you’re ready for the next season to begin.)

Of course, August is also symbolized with a Lion. The Zodiac sign Leo, which dominates most of August, symbolizes courage, leadership, and a strong, charismatic presence. Just the traits needed to reset, do ambitious new things, and transform. (Are you sensing a pattern here?)

So, we think it’s no accident that we’re celebrating this 100th podcast in a month that is really rich in significance.
